Hello, My Dolly Girlfriend (2013) – Storyline/Plot:

Kentaro is a lonely loser and geek (Otaku). When he’s fired from his job, he also loses his dignity. At his lowest moment he goes out on the town to drink away his misery when he wanders into an abandoned building in the heart of the pleasure district. There he finds a pretty girl doll with skin so soft and warm to touch. Her skin is so lifelike that he can see the veins under the skin… but it is a doll without a heartbeat. In his muddled consciousness, the man sees the doll turn into a cyborg girl and save him from thugs. The doll becomes his guardian angel with a demonic twist as she fulfills his fantasies by becoming a cyborg girl, a swan-lake ballerina, and his girlfriend. This hallucinatory and erotic romance fulfills the man’s final erotic desires. Who is she really? And where will their romance lead them…?

the final cut could have been shorter without any problem to the plot. At some point someone can be down knees to the system; even more in a place like Tokyo; fired from a job, without too much possibilities to have a gal or a relationship; immersed in your own otaku world living a non reality to escape from all that and trying to survive meanwhile you see at your sides beautiful girls on and on…would be difficult for many; so I think that this movie tries to show a bit of that side. Firsts takes are pretty good, then there s too much flatness and at some point a bit boring, but the way to use the camera, the colors and that mix between what s reality and what s not let you pass those long minutes and wait for the final part. The end is good in my opinion, due to the reality is just that.
