Review of AHASSS (2023 VIVAMAX Film):

Jake (Gold Aceron) works as an all-around errand boy at rest house in a remote town. He works for Mr. Sam Stonehill (Ian Curtis), a retired American military who marries an attractive young Filipina, Adelyne (Angela Morena).

Though charming and kind at times, Mr. Stonehill turns into an abusive sadist towards Adelyne when he gets drunk. He even flaunts her to his subordinates and friends, one of whom is Agusto (Jao Mapa), a corrupt police officer who guards and protects Mr. Stonehill. Adelyn is forced to dance and show off her body, and if she refuses to do so, she suffers brutal consequences.

One night, as the same horrifying incident happens, Jake aids Adelyne and comforts her. This ignites them to have a connection and share a passionate moment. As Jake and Adelyne continue with their affair, they start to develop feelings for each other, but Adelyne makes Jake realize that they will not be able to love freely as long as Mr. Stonehill is around.

Adelyne and Jake then team up and plot to kill Mr. Stonehill. But as they proceeded with their plan, they did not anticipate the might and intimidation Mr. Stonehill had.

Will Adelyne and Jake succeed? Or are they the ones who will not make it alive? Was Jake right to put his trust in Adelyne and their plans for the future? Or was he a fool all along?

Ahasss is a film by Ato Bautista, an award-winning director known for creating dark thriller and drama movies. His films Carnivore in 2008 and ‘Di Natatapos Ang Gabi (The Night Infinite) in 2010 bagged him the Best Director and Lino Brocka Award at the Cinemanila International Film Festival.

This also marks the comeback of The Other Wife star, Janelle Tee, on Vivamax. She plays a very important and crucial role to Jake and Adelyne’s love story.
